Bishop Bakhomious Blesses New
Facility for Children with Special Needs
Children
gain life skills, vocational training at center.
On
Friday, May 9 th , Metropolitan Bakhomious blessed a new building
for the St. Mark Center for children with special needs, one of Coptic
Orphans’ partners on the ground in Egypt. The children at the St.
Mark Center will learn new trades and handicraft skills in new
building that will equip them to gain greater self-sufficiency.
“I
talk about Coptic Orphans wherever I go,” Bishop Bakhomious said
as he thanked Coptic Orphans for supporting the project.
The
day began with a mass at the center presided by Met. Bakhomious.
Then,
the children of St. Mark’s center showcased their talents by presenting
a choir performance and a dramatic skit.
The
St. Mark Center for Children with Special Needs provides vocational
training and workshops for children and training for the community
at large about children with special needs. Over the past year, Coptic
Orphans provided training for 35 children with special needs through
the St. Mark Center.
Thanks
to the generosity of an anonymous donor who commissioned these partnerships,
Coptic Orphans partners with twelve organizations throughout Egypt,
including the St. Mark Center. Our other Grassroots Partnership Initiatives
include projects focusing on health screening and awareness, life
skills training, and support for orphaned children, girls, and children
with disabilities. So far, we have reached 2,147 children through
these projects.
